Music Memories #1

Up until I was in 5th grade I never cared for music. Whenever I listened to music it would always be from the radio. When I moved into the 5th grade my best friend at the time, David, showed me music artist such as, Blink-182, Green Day, and Deep Purple. This is where I began my journey on the road of Alternative Music. I used to repeatedly listen to Blink-182’s “Adam Song” on a CD player my mother gave me. I started to play the Electric guitar, trying to imitate the sound and style that Alternative groups had. I loved when their voices had a nasal sass to them. This is where I started to encourage my friends and family to get a instruments to start practicing with me.
After this stage I moved towards Asian Pop Music. When I was in the 7th grade, I was introduced to this kind of music by some of my friends in my middle school. I fell in love with this music because it made me feel happy and joyful. Although I did not know what any of the songs were about, I still loved them. To this day I still love this kind of music. Sometimes I just need to listen to it to pick me up from a depressing day.
From high school to my current life, I have been adapting to today’s popular music. I used to think that the mainstream music today was terrible and I would never like it. Although I say this, I’ve learned to love this music because, whenever I would go to dances or outings, this kind of music always pops up. Today, I love listening to acoustic sounding artist such as Bruno Mars. I love how his songs are simple but are very nice to listen to. I love the sound of a beautiful acoustic guitar.
